Jamie Redknapp on Lamela & Soldado: 'I hope Spurs kept their receipt'

The former Liverpool midfielder has criticised the expensive Tottenham Hotspur duo.

Jamie Redknapp has criticised Tottenham's Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado, remarking that he hopes the north London side 'kept the receipt' for the pair.

The duo have found Premier League life difficult since moving to the English capital but both have shown recent signs of promise.

Lamela has looked a different player so far this season, while Soldado delivered an encouraging performance in Saturday's 4-1 defeat at Manchester City.

That, however, did not stop Jamie Carragher from criticising the former in a Daily Mail column on Friday and his former team-mate has done exactly the same.

"Spurs have spent plenty of money but how many of those transfers were for top-class players?" Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail.

"Erik Lamela has not lived up to his billing and clearly Roberto Soldado is not the answer up front. They still look short at centre-half, too.

"Younes Kaboul gave away a penalty at City - exactly what you don’t want your captain to do - and the rest just could not cope with Sergio Aguero.

"Tottenham have paid a lot of money for an awful lot of players. I just hope they kept the receipt."
