Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has had his say on the reports claiming Manchester United have already agreed a deal to bring Dani Alves to Old Trafford next summer.
The Barcelona full-back is close to the end of his current deal, and comments attributed to Francois Gallardo last week claimed the Brazilian was set to play at Old Trafford next season.
Gallardo has famously made inaccurate claims in the past, including linking John Terry with Valencia and Robin van Persie with Real Madrid. But whatever you think of the latest reports, Balague has an alternative view.
"Alves has not signed for United," Balague wrote on Twitter on Sunday morning. "He's negotiating a new contract with Barcelona. Main sticking point: Club wants wages reduced so his future not decided yet."
The rumour was somewhat strange given the presence and impressive form of Rafael, and suggested that United were well on the way to becoming the new Galacticos. But if Balague is to be believed, the Alves rumour is one United fans can forget about...at least for now.
