Tottenham Hotspur scored just one goal and conceded four against Manchester City on Saturday, but Christian Eriksen believes that they can build on their performance at the Etihad Stadium.
According to the Spurs attacking midfielder, the North London club have an encouraging display in the first half of the Premier League contest and at the start of the second period.
"@ChrisEriksen8: We were in the game for long period. When you get a few pens against you it’s never easy." Interview on Spurs TV soon...— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) October 18, 2014
Eriksen’s comments will come as a surprise to many; after all, Tottenham eventually lost the Premier League encounter 4-1.
Sergio Aguero gave defending English champions City the lead in the 13th minute and then restored their advantage seven minutes later from the penalty spot after Eriksen had equalised for Tottenham.
Aguero netted twice in the second half - in the 68th and the 75th minutes - to wrap up the points for City and consign Mauricio Pochettino’s side to yet another league defeat.
Tottenham, though, were in the game at one point, but as the match progressed it became clear that City were the better side and were deserved winners.
