The pursuit of Andre Onana is now really hotting up.
In the summer Arsenal were linked with a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Andre Onana. The young Cameroonian saw his chances of regular football at the Nou Camp slammed shut by the summer arrivals of Claudio Bravo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen in Catalonia.
With that in mind he is believed to be considering his options, however nothing came of it in the summer.
But now it is being reported in Spain that the club are insistent on signing the stopper.
It was reported in Sport yesterday that Barcelona are losing the battle to keep hold of the stopper. He has shone in performances for the club's youth teams this season.
With his deal expiring at the end of the season it has also been reported that dignitaries of Arsenal's youth system are now snooping around with purpose.
However the report also claims that Barcelona remain quietly confident that the young stopper will sign a new deal with the club in the coming weeks.
But they should be more concerned.
Arsenal can offer him more financial opportunities and he is out of contract in the summer - it is a question of free choice.
The Gunners have snapped up several Barcelona youngsters in the past. The likes of Cesc Fabregas, Hector Bellerin, Jon Toral and Julio Plegeuzuelo have all made the move, so it is certainly a switch that seems to have a certain appeal.
Plus the goalkeeping department could do with strengthening in the youth team. Matt Macey and Ryan Huddart could easily be challenged by Onana for both the under-18s and under-21s.
So this could certainly be a deal to keep an eye on.
