Everyone knows that Arsenal FC have been chasing the talented 21-year-old playmaker Julian Draxler of Schalke 04 for the past couple of seasons.
The German international, who has a release clause of £37 million, has been on the radar of Arsene Wenger for the past 24 months and rumours of his arrival periodically do the rounds in the press.
However it is believed that Arsenal's interest in the player cooled because of his injury troubles and dip in form.
However, in the past couple of weeks, they have again been linked with his signature as a potential replacement for Mesut Ozil.
But yesterday he had to do the business for his current club, rather than Arsenal. He was up against Hertha Berlin in what was former Chelsea player and UEFA Champions League winning coach Roberto Di Matteo.
He did not fail to impress his new manager.
He was the man-of-the-match as Schalke, who have struggled at the beginning of the Bundesliga season, setting up the first goal from Dutchman Klaas Jan Huntelaar - swinging in a delightful cross for the opening goal.
He then scored the next goal. He danced along the edge of the box before striking with his left-foot, deflecting beyond the outstretched goalkeeper.
It is performances like this that have made Draxler constantly sit on the Arsenal wish list for the past couple of seasons.
