3 key passes, 88% pass accuracy: Arsenal star Danny Welbeck’s encouraging performance v Hull City in Premier League

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has been hit and miss so far this season, but on Saturday he was largely a ‘hit’.

Signed from Manchester United on transfer deadline day for a reported fee of £16 million, the England international has not been entirely convincing for the Gunners.

Welbeck scored a hat-trick against Galatasaray in the Champions League last month, but until Saturday he had found the target just once in the Premier League for Arsenal.

The 23-year-old was not exactly at the top of his game against Hull City at the Emirates Stadium, but he popped up at the right and at the right place to score the equaliser late on in a 2-2 draw.

Despite missing a good chance in the opening minutes of the Premier League encounter, Welbeck’s overall performance was encouraging enough. He created three chances, had two of his five shots on target and had a pass accuracy of 88.4%.

Welbeck’s record for Arsenal in five Premier League appearances now reads: two goals scored, seven chances created, 85% pass accuracy and 54% shot accuracy.

There is still room for improvement for Welbeck, who has often looked awkward in front of goal and has missed chances for Arsenal, but he is certainly on the right track.
