Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke made his first start since suffering an Achilles injury last season and subsequently being ruled out of the World Cup.
Now back, the Belgian international is joining up with a Villa side who impressed in the early weeks of the season but have slipped somewhat in more recent times. That poor form continued on Saturday, when Paul Lambert's side lost 3-0 to Everton, but how did Benteke do?
The Villa star played for 81 minutes but in that time he failed to have an on-target scoring attempt. His passing accuracy of 79.17 per cent was also less than he would have hoped for, while he failed to play any key passes or go on any dribbles.
That said, he did have a fine finish ruled out for a foul, so he showed what Villa fans will hope is a regular occurrence in the months to come, Benteke using his strength to get the better of an opponent (even if on this occasion he was penalised for it).

Villa need Benteke back and firing as soon as possible, given how their early form has taken a worrying dip, but fans will have to be patient considering the length of time he was on the side-lines.
After the match, we took to Twitter to see what Villa fans made of the player's performance, and below you can read a selection of what we found:
Benteke deserves better— Nick B. (@nbvibes) October 18, 2014
It's all well and good having Benteke upfront, but with no one to help him out, he's not gonna score.— Lewis Bate (@LewisBate_) October 18, 2014
Watched the replay twice on the Benteke "push". He's strong but not that strong. Alcaraz knew he was beaten, jumped and flopped. Pathetic.— Heremy (@AstonVillanUSA) October 18, 2014
Someone tell Benteke it's not Speedball 2.— chicoazul (@thechicoazul) October 18, 2014
Which player never fails to link up well with Benteke? Weimann. Who's sat on the bench? Weimann. Typical.— Fox Mulder (@daleavfc) October 18, 2014
Also don't think Benteke should be playing a full game— elle (@ellwebber) October 18, 2014
Benteke is bound to be poor. Needs games to get his sharpness back. Relax— vízzy9 (@vizzy9) October 18, 2014
