Former Leeds United star Robert Snodgrass says Alex Mowatt reminds him of Arsenal star Jack Wilshere.
Robert Snodgrass says Leeds United youngster Alex Mowatt has an air of Arsenal star Jack Wilshere about him following his impressive display against Rotherham.
The former Elland Road favourite was watching on as he took to social networking site Twitter in a bid to praise his former club teammate.

Mowatt joined the Leeds academy as a nine-year-old and progressed through the youth ranks until signing a professional contract with the club.
His impressive displays in the academy included a spell as captain of the under-18 side before he made his debut for the Whites at the beginning of the 2013/14 campaign.
Despite a number of changes at the Yorkshire club over the summer, the 19-year-old’s role at the club has remained the same as he has gone on to make six Championship starts since recovering from injury in late August.
His latest against Rotherham was yet more evidence of his burgeoning career and why observers may be comparing him to the Gunners and England international midfielder Jack Wilshere.
Team | Pos | Total Att Assist | Won Contest | Interception Won | Effective Clearance | Accurate Pass | Apps | Mins | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Alex Mowatt | Leeds | MF | 4 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 45 | 1 | 90 |
According to the table provided by Opta Stats, Mowatt had an excellent game despite his side's 2-1 defeat.
From an attacking perspective, the midfielder completed an outstanding four key passes whilst recording three successful dribbles - a key trait that Wilshere possesses.
Defensively, he competed well and offered his back four protection with a number of key interceptions and effective clearances.
After winning the club's Young Player of the Year award last season, similar performances of this ilk could see Mowatt among the favourites to land the senior prize come the end of the campaign.
