Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been speaking of the best games he has ever played in.
The 31-year-old has featured for the likes of Feyenoord, Arsenal and United in his club career, while also playing over 90 matches for the Netherlands senior national team.
In his career so far, the Dutchman has been involved in numerous enthralling matches and has been crucial in many of them.
So it was not an easy task for Van Persie to choose the best game he has ever played in when he was asked that question by Inside United.
‘That’s difficult because I don’t think you can ever play a best, best game but maybe the closest to that was the win at Southampton [in September 2012] but even it wasn’t the best – I scored a hat-trick but I missed a penalty’, he replied. ‘Also the game against Olympiacos (in March 2014) where we had to score three and I got three goals.
‘I have very good memories of both of those games but, as I say, you’re always trying to play your best game. I'm part of a team and the most important thing is first doing the best for the team and then hopefully for yourself as well’.
