Liverpool morning news: ‘We've got pace at the top of the team,’ says Reds assistant boss

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

Liverpool assistant manager Colin Pascoe has been speaking ahead of the Reds’ game against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

In an interview with the club’s official website, Pascoe said, “We always say ‘Start quickly and move the ball quickly’. We’ve got pace at the top of the team and it’s about moving the ball quickly and trying to get in behind them.

“Last season we did that a lot, coming out of the blocks.”

They certainly did, whereas this season Liverpool have faltered more than many expected them to. However, they got back to winning ways prior to the international break and the time is right for them to put a run together, continuing on Sunday.

In other news, Daniel Sturridge could be out for another two to four weeks after the Liverpool forward suffered a calf injury.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Brendan Rodgers said, “It’s a big blow as we were looking forward to welcoming Daniel back. He has worked tirelessly.”

But now the Reds will have to put their faith in the likes of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert to score the goals that can fire them back up the table.
