Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been speaking about Reds striker Mario Balotelli.
The Italian international has not had the best start to life at Anfield, scoring just one goal in eight appearances.
Given the continued absence of the injured Daniel Sturridge, it is vital that Balotelli gets back on the goal-scoring trail sooner rather than later, and Rodgers continues to have faith in his £16million man.
“He is doing his best and has worked very hard during the international break. Mario has worked like a lion over the past fortnight. Nobody is more determined than him to show his value and worth.”
That may be the case, but the simple fact is for all his impressive defensive work the 24-year-old simply has not cut it in the attacking third, and with no assists since his summer move either, he has plenty of areas to improve.
Balotelli is undeniably talented, but Liverpool fans will be hoping all that work Rodgers is talking about does pay off in the coming weeks. After all, the Reds cannot afford for it not to.
