Tottenham Hotspur captain Younes Kaboul has suggested his teammates have already forgotten about the drubbing given to them by Manchester City last season.
Spurs lost 6-0 in the same fixture last season but Kaboul has sent out a warning to City ahead of the game; we’re coming to play good football.
“Last season’s games are in the past and in football you always have to focus on the present and look to the future,” he told the Tottenham website.
“We can’t wait for this match, we want to go there and play our game.”
“We need to repeat the same performance as we produced against Arsenal. In these big games we need to do something to show everyone what we are capable of.”
Tottenham Hotspur head into the game as slight underdogs but they are well placed in the Premier League table, sixth, and they have the incentive of moving onto the same number of points as City with a win.
Tottenham also have momentum as they head into the game on the back of four games without defeat, which included a win against Southampton to end the post-Europa League jinx which has affected the club this season.
Spurs impressed against Arsenal with a truly gutsy performance in a derby game, which many suggested they would lose heavily.
Mauricio Pochettino is likely to play on the fact that many are underrating his team throughout the season and this is another great chance for Spurs to prove the critics wrong.
Kaboul needs to lead by the example and show the same passion on the pitch, which he’s displayed through his quotes.
If he can use his determination productively to try and ensure a clean sheet, that gives Tottenham a great chance of a narrow win, which will put them in a superb position in the league.
