Arturo Vidal has been excluded from Juventus's squad to face Sassuolo with coach Max Allegri claiming he wants to rest the Chilean international for mid-week.
The midfield star is the subject of intense media scrutiny after he was pictured in a brawl outside a nightclub in Turin after 5am before Juventus's game against Roma.
Vidal has been tipped to join Manchester United and also Real Madrid and reports suggest that a January sale is becoming more and more likely.
Juventus boss Allegri won't have been too pleased that while nursing a knee problem, Vidal played a full two games for Chile only to return not feeling 100 percent.
It has been confirmed that Vidal won't feature in the trip to minnows Sassuolo, but Allegri claims he is simply being safe ahead of a crucial mid-week European encounter with Olympiacos.
"He needs to recuperate a bit and he will be staying in Turin until the Champions League game."
Vidal was pictured training on his own yesterday, but there was no controversy - his plane was delayed.
"He arrived back late but it wasn't his fault," Allegri said. "He trained anyway."
