Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Pochettino defends Eriksen, City team news

A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Mauricio Pochettino has defended Christian Eriksen after the Dane was criticised during the international break.

Eriksen was attacked by the Danish national coach after Denmark lost 1-0 to Portugal earlier this week.

Pochettino has suggested that Eriksen has been a productive player for Tottenham so far this season.

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has returned to training early ahead of the weekend game against Spurs.

Early reports suggested that he wouldn’t be available to face Tottenham this weekend due to a lack of recovery time after the international break.

The Mirror claims he reported back at training around 11am yesterday morning.

Pochettino is still sweating over the fitness of one of his own players; Hugo Lloris.

Lloris picked up a problem while away with France, with conflicting reports over the severity of his injury.

“Maybe, maybe, maybe. Hugo arrived on Wednesday but we need to analyse and to test and we have another day to decide,” said the boss.
