Rotherham United defender Kari Arnason is full of praise for Leeds United ahead of the Yorkshire derby between the sides this evening.
The Iceland defender featured in a dramatic win against the Netherlands at the start of this week but is focused on getting a result with the Championship new boys this evening.
Arnason has described the importance of a good result against Leeds, while purring over the status of Darko Milanic’s team ahead of the game.
“It was a great birthday present. It was brilliant – What a result that would be. Leeds United are one of the biggest clubs in the world,” he told the South Yorkshire Times.
Leeds United head into the game in a slightly better position than Rotherham; three points ahead and aiming for the play-off places.
However, a win for the home side could see them move above Leeds in the table on goal difference which would be a good result for the side promoted from the League One play-offs last season.
The defensive record of each side is exactly the same with 13 goals scored but where Leeds are slightly ahead is in attack, with two more goals this season.
Arnason will be a vital player for Rotherham if they’re going to get over the line in this game and if they can keep a clean sheet in front of the Sky cameras, they stand a great chance of taking a win.
Leeds are one of the biggest clubs in England, with a large support base and Whites defender Giuseppe Bellusci commented earlier this week about how important the club’s support base is away from home.
Leeds fans will create a brilliant atmosphere this evening and it should be an extremely feisty match.
