Anderson, Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young, Michael Carrick and Phil Jones all trained on Friday afternoon.

Football fans around the country rejoice because the Premier League is coming back. The international break has been long and for England predictably dull as games against Estonia and San Marino offered little in excitement - but with the club football about to get under way again teams from across the Premier League have been sharing photos of their players in training, getting ready for the re-start.

One such club, despite not playing until Monday, is Manchester United.

They shared their training pictures earlier today, many of which will come as a boost to United fans.

We have hand picked a few of them to show why, as some big names look set to be fit by Monday night.

First of all there is Michael Carrick. He has been out of action since the summer with an ankle problem but is all set to return to action on Monday, should Louis van Gaal need him.

The big issue recently has been at the back. United have drafted in the likes of Paddy McNair and Tom Thorpe recently because of injuries - but Phil Jones and Chris Smalling were both in action. Jonny Evans remains on the sidelines but United have a rather healthy looking depth to defensive options - finally.

Some players are back earlier than expected, such as Ander Herrera. The summer signing from Athletic Bilbao declared himself fit yesterday, and can be spotted lurking behind Ashley Young - himself only recently returned from a pelvis problem.

Even Anderson, who has been out since August, is back in action and could feature on Monday night. There was also a plus as Antonio Valencia - who has been rumoured to be struggling with injury, also joined in the session.

For once United's team will not pick itself and Van Gaal has some choices to make across the pitch. A luxury he will certainly appreciate.

With all of that taken into account it has been a rather successful international break for United - as six players look set to return to first-team action after missing the last United game against Everton, and Valencia looks OK to make it seven players returning to action.
