Arsenal go in to the weekend desperately short of numbers in the defensive department. The causes are twofold; bad luck; bad business.
They lost Bacary Sagna, Carl Jenkinson and Thomas Vermaelen this summer with just Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy arriving - the maths does not add up.
Now, with Debuchy injured and Chambers suspended, they have been left threadbare at the back with Laurent Koscielny being diagnosed as suffering with Achilles tendinitis.
With that in mind Nacho Monreal is expected to fill in at centre-back. Considering he is a left-winger converted into a left-back when younger, that does not exactly inspire confidence.
But what if Wenger catches everyone out, and springs a surprise with Arsenal this weekend.
Isaac Hayden has been training with the first-team for many months now, he did so again today - as the attached photo shows.
But at 19-years-old he is yet to play in the Premier League, surely now is the time to throw him in at the deep end - and see if he sinks or swims.
Manchester United recently did the same with Paddy McNair and he has been a revelation for Louis van Gaal. McNair had not even been training with the first-team when his call-up came along, so what are Arsenal waiting for.
Surely blooding in a young star for the future makes more sense than a makeshift full-back covering the position?
