Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor updates with free new photo mode

The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Monolith and Warner Bros' Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor gets a new photo mode.

In the latest update for Monolith's Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor on PS4 and Xbox One the devs have added a new Photo Mode.

This new mode allows players to pause the gameplay at any moment with a click of the left analog stick, offering up a bunch of features to tweak and capture that perfect orc kill.

I tried out the new feature last night on Xbox One, and was pretty excited about it as I'd loved the similar mode in Forza Horizon 2. Unfortunately as the Xbox One doesn't have the ability to capture screenshots yet, although it has been promised for the future, I wasn't able to save the amazing image I'd set up. And now you'll never get to see it.

But there is hope for Xbox One owners, as pointed out on Eurogamer, you can record a gameclip when you've set up your shot and then go to Xboxclips.com to get your screenshot there.

The mode will be available on PC 'very soon,' say the devs.
