Michael Owen has been singing the praises of Manchester United winger Angel di Maria.
Di Maria joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window for a British-record fee of £59.7 million.
The Argentina international is widely considered as one of the best players in the world, and he has shown his quality at United.
The 26-year-old has scored three goals and has provided as many assists in five Premier League appearances, while creating 16 chances and having a pass accuracy of 81%.
Di Maria has been given the number 7 shirt which Owen wore for three years between 2009 and 2012 at Old Trafford, and the former United man is impressed with the ex-Benfica star.
‘I've been really impressed with him’, The Manchester Evening News quotes the 34-year-old as saying. ‘He's brought a lot of energy and life to the team and you need that. You need pace and players that are going to run around.
'It encourages everyone. You look across the way at Liverpool and Luis Suarez leaving. All of a sudden that energy around the pitch (has gone). It just drags people with it and I think Angel di Maria has got that. He's lively and just carries everyone else with him. He's scored good goals - he looks like a really good signing’.
Di Maria has arguably been the best United player so far this season, and a key reason why Louis van Gaal’s side are currently fourth in the Premier League table.
