The former Liverpool midfielder was expecting a lot more from the £20m summer signing.
Jamie Redknapp says Liverpool have 'surprised' him defensively - but for the wrong reasons.
And the former Reds midfielder has singled out £20 million summer signing Dejan Lovren as a particular disappointment.
Lovren enjoyed a fine Premier League campaign with Southampton last season, prompting Redknapp to think he would be a 'colossus' at Anfield.
But, so far, the Croatian - who is injured ahead of Sunday's clash between Liverpool and Queens Park Rangers - is yet to deliver.
"Defensively they’ve surprised me because I thought Dejan Lovren would be a colossus for them and he hasn’t been yet and he’s out this weekend," Redknapp wrote in his weekly Sky Sports column.
Based on Liverpool's suspect defending, Redknapp went on to predict that the Reds would draw with the Premier League's bottom side.
"It’s a good time to play Liverpool, too, because they’ve conceded a lot of goals but Liverpool will be aware QPR are a little shaky. If Liverpool score early, the Loftus Road crowd might turn on the home team," he wrote.
"Whoever concedes first has to keep their heads. It’s a fascinating game because these are two sides who aren’t full of confidence at the moment.
"I’m going to sit on the fence and call it a draw. We’re guaranteed goals because I don’t think either team is defending great and I’m going for 2-2."
