Arsenal's Podolski admits meeting with former club to 'exchange ideas'

Lukas Podolski Germany

Lukas Podolski has admitted meeting up with Cologne during the international break.

Arsenal star Lukas Podolski has now played more international minutes for Germany than in the Premier League for Arsenal this season.

The forward played 45 against Ireland in midweek, in comparison to a total of 37 with the Gunners to date.

And it is no wonder he is unhappy at his role, quoted yesterday by Goal: "I have assessed my position in the team, and it has to change now.

"Let's see what happens in the winter. The fact is that I'm not happy with it, that's clear."

Now it appears his displeasure has taken a further twist, once again meeting up with former team Cologne during his break.

Podolski told Sport1: "Time fitted very well, and it was of course in my mind that we should exchange ideas.

"I have always stressed that the FC for me is not a club like it is for everyone else.

"Whenever possible, I will attend the matches and remain in contact with the club. My love for FC Cologne and the city will never change."

Cologne were promoted back to the Bundesliga last season, and currently sit 14th in the division, above the relegation zone.

Other clubs such as Inter Milan and Galatasaray have been credited with previous interest in Podolski, but Cologne hold an emotional temptation unlike the rest.
