Gary Cahill is walking a tightrope recently, a red card seems to be dawning.
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has been in top form this season, as Chelsea top the Premier League his form at the back with John Terry has been just as important as that of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas further up the top.
But while many aspects of his game remain on top form he needs to be careful about one thing - because it is just a matter of time now before he sees red for the third time in his career - after two near misses in recent weeks.
Firstly there is the challenge that left Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger going handbag to handbag on the touchline. He dived into a tackle on Alexis Sanchez carelessly and on another day would have received a red-card for what was an awful challenge.
Sanchez was lucky to escape injury after the tackle.
Then against Estonia he did it again. He flew into a challenge from behind and again was lucky not to cause serious damage to his opponent.
It is a part of Cahill's game to play with aggression. But his recent challenges have been reckless, careless and dangerous. Of course he is a professional, and by no means could it be suggested he is attempting to injure an opponent.
But the way he goes in on players from behind is becoming a real danger.
Cahill currently has picked up three red-cards in his career - but if he is going to continue along his recent trend, it is just a matter of time before he picks up his fourth.
Chelsea fans will just hope it is not at an important point of the season.
