Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has said that Stoke City's home ground is his favourite away stadium.
Speaking to Inside United, the Netherlands international made this rather startling revelation, but he also explained why he holds the Britannia Stadium so close to his heart.
‘I want to say Stoke City because I have scored quite a lot of goals against them, but it’s not always the easiest place to go!’ said the 31-year-old when asked what his favourite away ground is.
‘It can be very tough. Blackburn has always been a good ground for me. I don’t really mind. When you play for a big team it doesn’t really matter. Of course, when you play at home, it’s a good feeling, but I don’t mind playing at any ground’.
Van Persie has indeed been successful in scoring goals at Stoke, and it is a credit to him that he has been so.
The Britannia Stadium is not an easy place to go and pick up points, but the Dutchman seems to have mastered the art.
This season United are at Stoke in the Premier League on January 1, and one can be sure that Van Persie is looking forward to that match.
