Manchester United morning news: Injury list grows, hint over Cleverley future

Antonio Valencia

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester United.

Manchester United midfielder Antonio Valencia is unlikely to be fit for this Monday’s visit to West Brom.

The winger picked up a hamstring problem during the match against Everton and is unlikely to have recovered in time for the game.

He becomes victim number nine on the side’s current injury list.

The Manchester Evening News claims Tom Cleverley could still have a future at Old Trafford.

The midfielder signed for Aston Villa on loan during the summer transfer window, after failing to convince Louis van Gaal that he could feature prominently in United’s team this season.

“You don’t know what’s going to happen because he’s only on loan at Villa. I think he’s a good player,” said United academy director Brian McClair.

Manchester United defender Rafael is targeting an opportunity under new Brazil coach Dunga.

Dunga came in after the World Cup and has over seen an impressive run of results after the disappointment earlier in the summer.

Rafael is targeting a regular place in both Manchester United and Brazil’s squads over the rest of the season.
