Good news Arsenal, bad news United - Youngster 'would love to play' for Real

Lucas Silva has made it clear that he could head to Real Madrid this winter. Leaving Arsenal and Manchester United at polar ends of the spectrum.

Manchester United are believed to be interested in the talented Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva, who is currently shining for Brazilian side Cruzeiro in their pursuit of silverware in his homeland.

Back in August his agent Luis Rocha confirmed the news, suggesting that United and Inter Milan had made approaches to sign his client in the summer.

No deal ever came about and Silva is still shining in Brazil.

But there is a new rival on the block in regards to his potential signature, Real Madrid.

It is being reported in the Spanish press that Silva is being looked at by Real as a potential replacement for Sami Khedira.

So the player's comments today will come as good news for Arsenal fans, and bad news for United fans.

Lucas Silva has not hidden the fact he would welcome interest from Real Madrid, after telling Diario As:

"Of course I would love to play for Los Merengues."

That does not and will not come as a surprise. Not many people reject Real Madrid when they come knocking and Lucas Silva would be no different. If United are still interested, they may have have to brace themselves to lose out on the talent.

However for Arsenal it is great news. Khedira is believed to be one of their main transfer targets for the winter, with his contract expiring in the summer.

If Real can get hold of Lucas Silva, which it seems will be a doddle if they press hard for the deal to go through, Khedira will instantly become even more attainable.
