Did Arsenal make a mistake keeping Mesut Ozil on the pitch against Chelsea?
Not just from a playing perspective, but from a fitness one, the German has now been ruled out with an injury for around three months,
The Frenchman went onto explain that his desperation to get a result saw him keep Ozil on.
"He had a little problem just before he went out at half-time. He had a little pain with his knee, he felt a crack.
"I said to our physio to keep an eye on him and if there was anything wrong with him, tell me because when you're 1-0 down, you want to keep your offensive players on the pitch."
Clearly this turned out to be a terrible mistake. Ozil contributed nothing in the second half, and with talented players in need of game time on the bench like Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Campbell, it appears a naive choice.
It is not the first time Arsenal's handling of Ozil has come into question. After he picked up a hamstring injury against Bayern Munich in March, and was substituted at half-time, the former Real Madrid star revealed he picked up an injury far earlier.
Ozil said at the time: "Now it's clear: During the match against Bayern I suffered a muscle injury in the second minute. I tried to give my best and played until the end of the first half."
