VIDEO: Liverpool target gets much needed goal boost

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is yet to score in Serie A this season but he bagged a brace in Argentina's 7-0 stroll against Hong Kong.

Gonzalo Higuain has been linked with a £30 million move to Liverpool, but on the basis of this season that would be a massive gamble.

The ex-Real Madrid man was phenomenal last season and his goals helped guide Napoli to third place in Serie A and the Italian Cup, but so far this term he has been off target.

Although he has netted in Europe, Higuain is without a goal in the league and has missed some absolute sitters, so his confidence may be starting to run low.

A friendly against Hong Kong provided the perfect opportunity to find the net and Higuain managed to score twice in a 7-0 rout. One was a decent header and one was an open goal tap-in he couldn't have missed.

The defending left a lot to be desired as Lionel Messi and Nicolas Gaitan also netted twice against a side that looked star-struck at the Hong Kong Stadium.

But Napoli fans, and possibly Liverpool fans, will hope that Higuain can use his goals as a springboard ahead of a tougher test against Inter this weekend.
