The London Evening Standard were the latest news outlet to suggest that the former Tottenham boss is in the running to take over the Rs earlier today and, though it does not seem an inevitable outcome just yet, the appointment looks a possibility at the very least.
Sherwood only spent a few months at Spurs last season but is said to be keen to return to management. And QPR owner Tony Fernandes is said to be keen on the 45-year-old - should Redknapp be shown the door at Loftus Road.
Reports seem to come to a general consensus at the moment that the current Rs boss is safe... for now.
As soon as the club hierarchy lose patience in the 67-year-old, however, Sherwood is said to be the favourite to take over from him, especially as his ally Les Ferdinand has recently been appointed as Head of Football Operations.
So how have fans taken to the news?
Well, for QPR supporters, it's a mixed bag. On Twitter in the hours after the Standard's report, most fans were displeased with the news, although some expressed their support for Sherwood.
Tottenham supporters, though, simply could not resisting taking a dig. Out of the two sets of fans, they are perhaps more experienced when it comes to the delights of Tim Sherwood...
If sherwood takes over as manager, we should petition to have fernandes sectioned CUCKOO ! #QPR— PAUL1QPR (@paul1qpr) October 15, 2014
Sherwood to QPR? Sandro must be buzzing!— Chris Allen (@ChrisGnu) October 15, 2014
I actually think Sherwood would do a better job at QPR than Redknapp. Admittedly, that's like saying Coldplay is less tedious than Travis.— Bankrupt (@bankruptspurs) October 15, 2014
Sherwood at QPR would be hilarious.— Luke (@LukeGuy93) October 15, 2014
I'd actually want Sherwood to do well if he takes over for Harry at QPR..not out of love for Sherwood but out of despise for droopy— Andrew Labib (@Andrew_Labib) October 15, 2014
So QPR are deciding to skip the attractive but ultimately useless foreign manager stage and just go straight to Sherwood.— Joe Wildman (@joewildman) October 15, 2014
Tim sherwood would just be another short term solution IMO. Would like to see Eddie howe take over— joe taylor (@joeyqpr) October 15, 2014
