Three stars of Liverpool's season so far: Featuring £37m duo

Alberto Moreno Perez

A generally poor start to the Reds' campaign has seen several players underwhelm - but three have impressed at Anfield.

Alberto Moreno

Much has been made of Liverpool's expensive set of signings this summer. Several, though they could yet come good, have flattered to deceive so far on Merseyside (see Mario Balotelli and Lazar Markovic).

But one man has settled in seamlessly at Anfield, providing as much in defence as he has in attack.

As Opta stats show, that man - £12 million full-back Alberto Moreno - has won 12 tackles and eight interceptions for Brendan Rodgers' side, also creating an impressive nine chances and winning four dribbles.

The 22-year-old also scored an unforgettable solo goal at Tottenham, demonstrating his considerable potential to the Kop.

Adam Lallana

Moreno is not the only summer signing to have impressed, however, with Adam Lallana also hitting the ground running in recent weeks.

The £25 million capture from Southampton got off to a slow start at Anfield, with injury curtailing his pre-season preparations, before Lallana struggled to regain fitness for Liverpool.

But, with some match practice, the 26-year-old has shown what he is capable of - and a fine goal against West Brom has Reds fans wanting and expecting more.

Jordan Henderson

Now Liverpool's vice-captain, Jordan Henderson's influence for Rodgers' side just gets bigger and bigger.

The England midfielder is an ever-present for the Reds and never seems to stop running.

Statistically, meanwhile, he is the star of the show in several key areas on Merseyside.

As Opta stats prove, Henderson has won more tackles than any Liverpool player - and more interceptions than any other Reds midfielder. He has also made more accurate passes than any of his team-mates, as well as creating 15 chances from a deeper position in midfield and producing a match-winning performance against West Brom.

The future certainly looks bright for Henderson.
