The top five players linked with Tottenham this week

Tottenham WHL

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of potential new faces in recent days.

The January transfer window is still more than two months away but that has not stopped numerous reports linking Tottenham Hotspur with plenty of new additions.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have had a hit-and-miss start to the new season, and there is no doubt they could do with some more threat up front, but not all the players linked have been goal-scorers.

Here are the top five players to be linked with Tottenham this week:

Emmanuel Emineke

Along with Arsenal, Spurs are said to be keeping a very close eye on the Nigerian international who currently plays for Fenerbahce.

The 27-year-old has scored 13 goals and set up an additional nine in 36 games for the Turkish side, and with a contract that runs until the summer of 2017, reports claim he will cost in the region of £15million.

Ante Rebic

The Croatian forward can play in a variety of different positions and is a very promising young player.

At 21, he would become another young Tottenham star who can grow over time at White Hart Lane, but is that really what Spurs currently need given the presence of the likes of Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela?

Wissam Ben Yedder

The 24-year-old centre forward currently plays for French side Toulouse, where he has scored 38 goals in 104 appearances. Tottenham have been linked with a £5million move, which seems on the cheap side even if he has less than two years left on his current deal.

As a possible upgrade on Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado, he may not be the best option.

Winston Reid

This is a somewhat surprising one given the number of centre-backs already at Tottenham, but the West Ham United defender has been linked with a move across London at the end of his Hammers contract.

Liverpool are also said to be monitoring the situation, with Reid’s current deal expiring at the end of the season.

Sebastian Giovinco

Another player who could be available for free next summer, the Juventus forward has already said he could leave the Serie A club for pastures new, prompting the links with Tottenham,

The 27-year-old is a secondary striker who can also play as an attacking midfielder or a left-winger, but his record of 18 goals in 123 appearances for Juve is not great.

That said, he did score 23 goals and provide 22 assists while on loan at Parma so played regularly he could prove to be an effective option up front.
