Roma double Florenzi’s wages, hope to keep Arsenal at bay

Arsenal are known to be keeping an eye on Roma talent Alessandro Florenzi, so the Giallorossi are ready to offer him a massive pay rise.

Roma have been fighting to keep their star men and the latest to receive a lucrative contract offer is midfielder Alessandro Florenzi.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough 2013-14 campaign and has established himself in the national set-up as well as playing an important role for Roma.

While Manchester United are constantly linked with Dutch international Kevin Strootman, Florenzi's name has come up in connection with Arsenal.

However, Roma are determined to keep the homegrown ace and reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport detail the offer they are willing to make.

Florenzi's current contract is set to expire in 2016 but he is expected to receive a pay rise from his current £475,000 per year to around £1.1 million committing for four years.

Roma are also in talks with Seydou Keita, who is said to be close to agreeing an extension, but talks with Strootman remain stalled.

When Florenzi puts pen to paper it will be a clear signal that he intends to stay with his beloved Roma and he may even end up following in the footsteps of team-mate and legend Francesco Totti.
