Germany continued their poor run of results on Tuesday when they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Republic of Ireland in the Euro 2016 Group D qualifier.

Hosts Germany took the lead at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen in the 71st minute when Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos found the target.

The 2014 World Cup winners appeared to be on course to victory until the fourth minute of injury time when John O'Shea scored the equaliser.

The match was the 33-year-old former Manchester United defender’s 100th appearance for Ireland, and he marked the occasion in style.

Ireland are now second in Group D with seven points from three matches, level on points with leaders Poland but behind on goal difference. Germany are three points behind the duo in third.
