Borussia Dortmund midfielder and reported Manchester United transfer target Ilkay Gundogan is back in action.
Gundogan took part in a reserve team game for Dortmund ahead of BVB’s match against Koln this weekend, where he could make a return to competitive action after over 400 days out with injury.
Considering BVB’s inconsistent start to the season, they sit 13th with four defeats from seven games, his return to action can’t come a moment too soon for Jurgen Klopp who has endured injuries to several key players this season.
The most recent reports suggest that Gundogan is considered an alternative target to Kevin Strootman and Arturo Vidal for Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.
However, if they take a punt on him and can get BVB to do a deal, it could be a masterstroke if Gundogan returns to the sort of form he produced for BVB before his prolonged spell out with injury.
