Paul Scholes: Gareth Bale takes my breath away

Bale Real Madrid

The former Manchester United midfielder thinks the Real Madrid & ex-Spurs ace will one day overtake Cristiano Ronaldo as the European champions' top scorer.

Paul Scholes says former Tottenham Hotspur forward Gareth Bale 'takes his breath away.'

The ex-Manchester United midfielder was discussing Bale's form at Real Madrid, as well as how much the Welsh national team means to him.

And Scholes has tipped the 25-year-old to one day overtake Cristiano Ronaldo as the European champions' top scorer.

"I have to admire the way that Gareth Bale has taken to life at Real Madrid," Scholes wrote in his weekly column for the Independent, which was also published in the London Evening Standard under the headline 'Gareth Bale takes my breath away...'

"I watched him in the 5-0 win over Athletic Bilbao and they were breathtaking.

"I am sure that he will eventually inherit Ronaldo’s mantle as the club’s leading goalscorer. In the meantime, it was good to see how much it meant to Bale to play for Wales this week."

Bale has previously been linked with a move to Man United, although it remains to be seen whether the former Tottenham man will leave Real Madrid - possibly ever.
