Battle of Zelalem

A year ago today and African nation Ethiopia were making noise about a top Arsenal talent. Gedio Zelalem emerged during last pre-season as a top talent for The Gunners and many were dubbing him Arsenal's next Cesc Fabregas.

But while Arsenal had the youngster tied down for them in the future at international level there was a real bttle waging to get Zelalem committed.

He is eligible to play for the United States, Germany and Ethiopia. And Ethiopia's foreign minister Adhanom Tedros said of the teenager:

"Hi Gedion... we hope you will play for Ethiopia soon."

Currently Zelalem is still representing Germany at youth level-despite hopes from the other two nations he will one day play for them.

Koke moolah

Manchester United were being linked with a £16 million move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke. The talented midfielder, dubbed the 'next Xavi' was enjoying a good start to the season with Los Colchoneros and had a release clause of the mentioned fee.

Of course United continued to be interested in the player, until he signed a new deal at Atleti.
