Manchester United latest: Blind has 'natural self-confidence,' good & bad injury news for Van Gaal

The latest Manchester United news, views and rumours.

Daley Blind

Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind insists he has all the self-confidence he needs from his time at Ajax.

Blind arrived at Old Trafford this summer as one of several new signings, although his £14 million valuation did not quite compare to that of Angel Di Maria's, who United bought for £59.7 million.

However, that does not faze Blind, who insists he is not a shy member of Louis van Gaal's squad.

"I'm not a player United [paid a fortune for] like Di Maria but that doesn't make me a shy boy in the dressing room and on the training pitch," the Dutchman is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.

"Thanks to Amsterdamse bluf, we Ajax players have a natural self-confidence."

Antonio Valencia

Elsewhere, there is less assuring news for Man United boss Van Gaal, with the Daily Mail reporting that Antonio Valencia has become the club's ninth injured player.

The 29-year-old is said to have tweaked his hamstring during his side's Premier League win over Everton.

The problem is reportedly not too serious but will rule him out of United's trip to West Brom next Monday.

However, the Daily Mirror reports good news on the injury front, with several first-teamers returning from fitness issues - including Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Michael Carrick, while Ander Herrera's rib problems are said to be not as bad as first thought.
