It hasn't been the best of weeks for Mesut Özil. First of all he was ruled out for potentially the rest of 2014 with a knee injury. Following on from this the German national team lost 2-0 to Poland at the weekend before conceding a last minute equaliser to Republic of Ireland on Tuesday night.
Today is his 26th birthday however it still hasn't been an enjoyable day for the midfielder as a former teammate has accused him of being unfaithful to his girlfriend. Christian Lell has accused Özil of 'muscling in' on his relationship whilst they were teammates at Bayern Munich.
However he has received a pleasant message from fellow Gunner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain today who tweeted a picture of them together and wished him a happy birthday. The Ox also took the opportunity to say get well soon with regards to his injury. Özil now joins Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey on the injury, and for once Jack Wilshere is one of the few midfielders fit and available.
Oxlade-Chamberlain played his part in both of England’s World Cup Qualifying victories in the last week, coming off the bench in each of them. He will be hoping to be in Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven for the match against Hull City on Saturday.
