Hull City latest: Duo’s international delight; player on retirement plans

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the KC Stadium…

Two Hull City stars played their part in a famous night for the Republic of Ireland national team on Tuesday.

David Meyler and Stephen Quinn both featured for Martin O’Neill’s side as they held world champions Germany to a 1-1 draw in Gelsenkirchen.

Both Tigers players started the match and the result means Ireland remain unbeaten in Euro 2016 qualifying.

In other news, Hull goalkeeper Steve Harper has reportedly put any retirement plans on hold.

Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail, the veteran stopper said, “I came back in July for pre-season and the manager spoke to me on day one.

“He told me to get all thoughts of retirement out of my head. I’ll make a decision around my birthday when, in an ideal world, we’ll have the 40 points on the board and be setting ourselves another target. We can talk about it then.”

Harper is 39 but he should feature for the Tigers against Arsenal this weekend and remains an important member of Steve Bruce’s squad.
