Giggs: Angel Di Maria is so good he doesn't need coaching

Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria is a 'free spirit' who barely needs coaching, according to assistant manager Ryan Giggs.

Manchester United legend and now-assistant manager Ryan Giggs claims that summer signing Angel Di Maria is so talented that he barely needs coaching.

Di Maria, 26, sealed a British record £59.7 million switch from Real Madrid to United in August after four successful seasons in the Spanish capital, and has since recorded three goals and three assists in five league games.

Giggs has expressed his excitement at what the future has in store for the Argentine winger at Old Trafford, and revealed that his immense talent even allows new manager Louis van Gaal to take a hands-off approach when it comes to training.

‘You don't need to do a lot with him,’ he was quoted in the Manchester Evening News.

‘He's that sort of player, he's a free spirit. He will take you from box to box really quickly and he will create and score goals.

‘He gets bums off seats and he excites me. He's the kind of player you love to watch.’

Having penned a five-year contract at United, worth a reported £200,000-per-week, fans have lofty expectations for Di Maria given his price tag, but the 53-times capped international’s impressive start to life in the Premier League suggests he might well fulfil them.
