Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has underlined the importance of the goal Alexis Sanchez scored against Besiktas back in August.
The Chilean’s strike in the second leg of the Champions League playoff tie proved to be the winning goal and one that secured the Gunners a place in the group stage of Europe’s premier club competition.
Szczesny believes that it was that goal that installed confidence in Sanchez and told Arsenal’s official website: ‘He got a massive goal for us against Besiktas and that took the pressure off him.
‘Since then he has scored pretty much every time he has started. I’m very happy for him. I hope it continues and he gives us that little bit more’.
Sanchez has given encouraging performances so far this season, but he has yet to lit up the Premier League.
The £30 million summer signing has scored twice in six Premier League appearances, while creating 13 chances for his teammates.
The Chile international has a 75% pass accuracy and a 50% shot accuracy. It is clear that Sanchez needs to step up his game, and Arsenal fans will hope that he does so when he returns from the international break.
