The Dutch under-21 side were left stunned after a five star Portugal ensured their four goals wasn't enough to come away from the tie with a victory.
Although the Dutch dominated possession and had the majority of chances, their back four really failed to live up to the standard the the rest of team were playing at and it cost them.
Chelsea's Nathan Ake was joined on the Netherland's scoresheet by Wout Weghorst (Heracles Almelo) and Terence Kongolo (Feynoord), while Ruben Neves (FC Porto), Ruben Vezo (Valencia), Bernado Silva (Benfica, on-loan at Monaco) and a brace from Richardo (FC Porto) was enough to seal the win for the young Portuguese side.
The Chelsea defender, who played in midfield on this occasion, will no doubt be delighted with his first goals for the Dutch U21 side and will hope to carry on in a similar vein when he returns to Chelsea at the end of the week.
The youngster's first goal saw him judge the flight of the ball better than the Portuguese goalkeeper which allowed him to produce a clever flick into an open net. His second, however, came from a precisely hit penalty which brought the Dutch back into the game for the last 10 minutes, although they failed to hit the net again after.
