Southampton star compared to legendary World Cup winner

Graziano Pelle has been likened to Luca Toni, who fired his way into the FIFA World Cup All Star Team in 2006 with Italy.

Southampton strike sensation Graziano Pelle has been favourably compared to a brace of legendary Italians.

Renowned coach Delio Rossi, 53, believes Pelle - a 29-year-old who is a late-bloomer - is similar to former Internazionale striker Christian Vieiri and World Cup winning veteran Luca Toni.

"[Pelle] is a little different from attackers that are all the rage now," commented Rossi in TMW. "He is the classic centre-forward, physically strong that serves as a point of reference.

"He reminds me of Bobo Vieri and for the way his career has developed, Luca Toni.

"Players like him often explode late and maybe we do not have enough patience," he concluded.

Pelle came of age at previous club Feyenoord, as he returned a superb 23 goals from 28 games - and his form has continued into his Southampton career as he has netted four from seven, with one assist to boot.
