PICTURE: Mutu denies drunk reports, tweets visa

Former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu has rubbished reports he was too drunk to get a visa to play in India and tweeted a picture of the document.

Reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport earlier today that ex-Chelsea man Adrian Mutu had been denied an Indian visa appear to be untrue.

The Italian newspaper claimed that Mutu had turned up to the Indian Embassy in Bucharest drunk and insulted staff who denied him the document.

Mutu is set to play for FC Pune City in the inaugural Indian Super League, so not getting the visa would have been a massive and potentially financially disastrous blow.

However, Mutu has responded angrily to the reports and tweeted a picture of his visa in his passport, suggesting the story was a fabrication.

Mutu says: 'I don't understand!! A newspaper like La Gazzetta dello Sport could print a lie of that kind without checking the information'.

The paper may have been influenced by Mutu's past reputation as a bad boy. He famously had his contract at Chelsea torn up in 2004 after failing a drugs test for cocaine and was often pictured on wild nights out when playing in Italy.
