Manchester United winger Angel di Maria has hailed Argentina’s performance against Hong Kong in the friendly international on Tuesday.
The South American giants eased to a 7-0 victory over their hosts at the Hong Kong Stadium. Gonzalo Higuain, Lionel Messi and Nicolas Gaitan scored a brace each, while Ever Banega found the target once for Argentina.
Di Maria, who joined United from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window for a British-record fee of £59.7 million, came on as a late substitute in the match. The 26-year-old replaced Gaitan in the 73rd minute and caused problems for Hong Kong, having a shot cleared off the line.
The former Benfica star was delighted with Argentina’s display and said after the match: ‘We did a great job and were always pressing’.

Di Maria is now on his way back to Manchester to rejoin his United teammate. The Argentine will be back in action in the Premier League on Monday when the Red Devils take on West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
United are currently fourth in the league table with 11 points from seven matches, eight points behind leaders Chelsea.
