Tottenham latest, club sweats on fitness of Chadli and Lloris, interest in striker

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening.

Tottenham are sweating on the fitness of two key players ahead of the weekend's trip to the Etihad Stadium to take on champions Manchester City.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris suffered an thigh injury on international duty with France with the London Evening Standard reporting he will sit out tonight's friendly against Armenia.

Nacer Chadli has impressed in the early stages of the season, and for Belgium, but pulled out of his country's qualifier with Bosnia and Herzegovina after struggling with a hip problem.

TalkSport has picked up on reports in Italy suggesting that Tottenham could be targeting a new striker in the summer.

Fiorentina's Ante Rebic is reportedly the subject of interest from the club with the 21-year-old forward currently on loan at German club RB Leipzig.

Jan Vertonghen is said to have been overlooked for the captaincy role after Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino consulted with the squad according to the Daily Telegraph.

Fellow defender Younes Kaboul was given the armband, with Vertonghen's displeasure at working with Tim Sherwood last season may have counted against him.

Michel Vorm has been talking to the Tottenham website about settling into life at White Hart Lane after signing from Swansea City in the summer.

Despite being in his early 30's, Vorm said he still likes to learn from those at the highest level.

He said: “I still like to learn, even though I’ve been around for a few years, and it’s great working with Brad, Hugo and Luke. Just speaking about Brad and Hugo, it’s been quite natural for me to fit in. They’ve been in football a while so that makes it easier – and we’re all relaxed, we are easy-going guys and in a way we’re quite similar."
