West Ham United midfielder Alex Song has been speaking following his move to Upton Park this summer.
The Barcelona player swapped the Nou Camp for a loan stint at the Hammers and he has excelled so far, slotting seamlessly into Sam Allardyce’s side.
In an interview with West Ham’s official website, the Cameroon international revealed that words of wisdom from his mum have proved true since his return to London.
“My mum always says, ‘You have to be happy with what you’ve got’ and I am very happy here,” Song said. “I am enjoying training every day. There is a good group of players here.
“It is important to fit into the group you are working in and I am doing that here. Everybody has shown me a lot of love, I feel very welcomed here.”
Song has made four appearances for West Ham so far, and Allardyce’s side have lost just one of those, the narrow defeat away to Manchester United.
The 27-year-old raised more than a few eyebrows when he swapped Barca for the Hammers, but his performances so far have suggested he is a player intent on proving the doubters wrong and helping his current club finish as high as possible come May.
