France coach Didier Deschamps has offered Tottenham Hotspur hope over a groin injury to goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Loris suffered the problem after the start of the international break and is expected to miss the game against Armenia later today.
“For Hugo, he is a lot better but he won’t play tomorrow (Tuesday),” said Deschamps.
The news offers Tottenham hope that the Frenchman will be fit enough to feature against Manchester City this weekend.
He’s been arguably the most consistent goalkeeper in the Premier League this season and one of Mauricio Pochettino’s most important players.
Spurs have cover if he’s unavailable this weekend but it’s encouraging to see Deschamps using common sense as a measure with his logic in terms of whether Lloris should be involved today.
He’s integral to the organisation of Tottenham’s defensive unit so his presence for Spurs is important against the Premier League champions, who are looking to close the gap on Chelsea at the top of the league.
