Monchi has been linked with replacing Franco Baldini as Technical Director at Tottenham Hotspur, after announcing that he would leave Sevilla once his contract expired.
Baldini has been integral to several transfer deals at White Hart Lane, some of which have been criticised for the nature of the fees involved and the subsequent struggles of the players in North London.
As speculation grows over Monchi’s future, we’ve put together five facts about him.
He played for Sevilla as a goalkeeper between 1990/1991 and 1999/2000.
He announced his retirement from the game in 2000.
He currently holds the Sporting director position at Sevilla.
Sevilla have won several honours during his time at the club so far; three UEFA Cups, two Copa del Reys and one European Super Cup.
He is responsible for bringing Dani Alves and Seydou Keita among others into Spanish football.
It would be a big decision for Daniel Levy to change his Technical Director but if he does, Monchi has a solid back ground which makes him suited to the role.
