Crystal Palace star wants "all the points" against Chelsea

Joel Ward has vowed to replicate Crystal Palace's best form when the South Londoners take on Jose Mourinho's Blues.

Considering the high-flying, free-scoring nature of Jose Mourinho's table-topping Chelsea team, it would be easy to presume that their Saturday fixture against Crystal Palace is a three-point banker.

Crystal Palace, after all, are four points above the relegation zone and have conceded 12 goals from seven games in the domestic season to date.

However, in those seven games, Palace have already completed some of the most arduous tests in the English football calendar - a trip to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal (which they valiantly lose 2-1) and a trip to Goodison Park for an Everton encounter (which they won 3-2).

For full back Joel Ward, the weekend clash against Chelsea could yield at least a point - but potentially all three - providing the home team fire on all cylinders.

"We proved it last year, we held our own," explained Ward to the Evening Standard.

"I think we were unfortunate at the start of this season against Arsenal so hopefully we can replicate the same form we did last year against Chelsea and take a share of the points, if not all of them.”

Palace mainstay Ward, 24, has returned 28 clearances, 19 tackles and 13 interceptions from his seven appearances in the Premier League so far this season.
