Chelsea morning news: Will Mourinho take swap deal? Martinez on Atsu

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

Reports suggest Chelsea will use Petr Cech to try and sign Sami Khedira from Real Madrid.

The German has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal but reports suggest Carlo Anelotti’s side are looking for a goalkeeper.

Cech could be open to the move after losing his number one status to Thibaut Courtois.

Roberto Martinez has backed on loan winger Christian Atsu to be a big hit over the second half of the season.

Atsu has struggled to have the impact at Stamford Bridge that many were expecting so far this season.

“We need to give him a little bit of time to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League just like any player but especially a winger. In other leagues referees allow less contact and they are a bit more protected,” said Martinez.

Chelsea have been linked with a potential move for Antonio Rudiger of VFB Stuttgart as they seemingly eye up John Terry replacements.

The Star has suggested Rudiger is an alternative to Raphael Varane, with reports suggesting the Frenchman wouldn’t be available for less than £40 million.

However, Stuttgart’s sporting director has revealed that the club are looking to extend their player’s contract.
